DESCRIPTION:Quarry entrance fee is $20.00 per Diver \n(Please – No pets or non-diving children under the age of 12) \nIllinois Council of Skin & Scuba Divers invite you to join them to join them for a fun filled day of Diving\, Picnicking\, and Underwater Pumpkin Carving\nCome enjoy a relaxing day at Haigh Quarry\, “The Caribbean of the Midwest.” Let your imagination run wild\n– Try your hand at Underwater Pumpkin Carving! \nPrizes will be awarded based on the number of votes received from attendees (Divers and Non-Divers\nmay vote). After carving your pumpkin\, simply place on the judging table no later than 1:00. Judging will\ntake place at 1:30 P.M. \nPumpkins will be provided courtesy of Haigh Quarry (or bring your own.) Don’t forget tools to carve your\npumpkins. If you are going to picnic\, bring a dish to share and your non-alcoholic beverage of choice\, we will\nhave plenty of water on hand. You will need to bring a complete set of dive equipment (rentals are available.\nContact Haigh for reservations.) Also be sure to bring your certification card. www.haighquarry.com

SUMMARY:Dempster/Greenwood Beach Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:How to find us\nIllinois Council of Skin and Scuba Divers will have their banner up \nWe will start at 9:00. Although the beach will be officially closed\, restrooms will be open. We will do shore cleanup. Although this is a cleanup\, what we really do is collect data on the changing conditions along this coastline in terms of trash pollution of all types. Data is collected on the type and quantity of trash collected and compared to data that is collected from previous years. This is important work. \nThis event is part of the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup program and is sponsored locally by the Alliance for the Great Lakes. The Illinois Council of Skin and Scuba Divers will be doing our part this year. In 2019\, more than 6\,800 September Adopt-a-Beach™ volunteers cleaned up debris and recorded what they found at 260 sites around the Great Lakes. You can help make this year’s event even bigger. This is a great late season event that is fun\, and also contributes to a better environment. Hope to see you. \nWHAT TO BRING \n\nBring Your Own bucket\, gloves and reusable water bottle. Help us cut down our waste.\nWear closed-toed shoes\, sunscreen and a hat. Bring an extra layer\, like a sweater or jacket\, in case it is cold. Sometimes the wind coming off the lake can be chilly.
